Advanced Tutorials

These tutorials cover complete industrial process simulations. Each one builds a multi-unit flowsheet from scratch, based on real-world chemical processes. The code is adapted from DWSIM's Validation Test suite, which means every tutorial produces numerically validated results.

Tutorials

  1. Refrigeration Cycle - Propane (R-290) vapor-compression refrigeration with compressor, condenser, expansion valve, and evaporator. Calculates COP.

  2. Ammonia Synthesis - Haber-Bosch single-pass: compression, preheating, equilibrium reactor, cooling, and separator. Validates atomic balances.

  3. Benzene/Toluene Separation - Binary aromatic distillation with preheat exchanger.

  4. Natural Gas Processing - Multi-component dew point control and LPG recovery.

  5. Ethanol Plant - Glucose fermentation with conversion reactor and product separation.

  6. Reverse Osmosis - Membrane desalination of seawater.

  7. Methanol Synthesis - Syngas-to-methanol with equilibrium reactor and recycle loop.

Prerequisites

  • Completed the Intermediate Track
  • Comfortable with multiple unit operations, reactions, and recycle streams
