Beginner Tutorials

These tutorials introduce DWSIM fundamentals, from creating your first flowsheet to running basic unit operations. No prior DWSIM experience is required.

Each tutorial builds on the previous one. We recommend following them in order.

Tutorials

  1. Your First Simulation - Create a flowsheet, add compounds, choose a property package, and inspect stream properties.

  2. Mixer Basics - Mix two water streams at different temperatures and verify the energy balance.

  3. Heater and Cooler - Heat and cool water streams, understand energy streams and heat duty calculations.

  4. Simple Flash Drum - Separate a two-phase mixture into vapor and liquid products.

What You Will Need

  • DWSIM v10.0 or later
  • Python 3.9+ with the FluentAPI package installed, OR an MCP-compatible client
  • About 30 minutes per tutorial
